FR / Après vingt ans dans la presse (Le Monde diplomatique), Philippe Rivière a bifurqué vers la cartographie et la visualisation de données. Il s’intéresse, d’une part, aux aspects sociaux et critiques du domaine, avec Visionscarto.net et à travers des collaborations ponctuelles ou de long terme avec divers artistes, chercheur·euses, militant·es ou encore journalistes. Il contribue, d’autre part, à l’implémentation concrète d’outils et d’algorithmes, notamment avec D3.js. Il collabore actuellement à la création d’Observable Plot, un logiciel libre dont l’objectif est de faciliter l’exploration rapide de jeux de données.

EN / After twenty years in press (Le Monde diplomatique), Philippe Rivière turned to cartography and data visualisation. He is interested, on the one hand, in the social and critical aspects of the field, with Visionscarto.net and through one-off or long-term collaborations with various artists, researchers, activists and journalists.

He also contributes to the concrete implementation of tools and algorithms, notably with D3.js. He is currently collaborating on the creation of Observable Plot, an open source software that aims to facilitate the rapid exploration of data sets.
